“It’s always the little things that really show how great of a person he is to work with. A simple “How are you feeling?” or “How was your day?” before every session, shows how much he cares and is interested in helping you better yourself (surprisingly, not every trainer I’ve seen does that!).”
I’ve been seeing Josh for personal training since March 2017 at the local gym in Hayward. I have had at least 20 sessions with him and I can say I’m addicted! He’s an excellent trainer and I would recommend him to anyone who asked.
I remember the day I met him, he was walking to the back stretching room with me, and on the way he seemed to talk to and know everyone. People came to him for advice, or just to say hello. He instantly gave me the impression that he was friendly, approachable and everyone respected his work. I was already impressed!
When I first started, he taught me all of the fundamentals that would better myself for changing to a lifestyle of fitness. I never realized how detrimental breathing technique was for proper form when lifting, stretching, etc. I also appreciated that he taught me the proper way to stretch to prevent injuries. Being an athlete growing up, I have had multiple injuries, but it was not until now, that I realized that my stretching and form were not always correct. I tend to be extremely impatient with myself, but he would remind me to always “listen to your body” and I’ve learned that all big changes take time and lots of effort!
It’s always the little things that really show how great of a person he is to work with. A simple “How are you feeling?” or “How was your day?” before every session, shows how much he cares and is interested in helping you better yourself (surprisingly, not every trainer I’ve seen does that!). During every session, Josh is extremely encouraging. I love that he focuses in on what every client wants to work on and tunes our training sessions after it. He challenges me and pushes me through every session. Even when I feel like I’m not hitting any progress or doing so well, his words push me to keep going and have patience in myself and the process. It may also be super nerdy of me, but I like that he gives me homework (LOL!). It’s great that he gives me workouts or just stretches to do on the days that I workout without him.
Outside of the sessions, Josh gives great advice. He’s always easy to contact. He helped me find the proper supplements and protein powders. Yes, he also makes sure I’m keeping up with my nutrition!
Fast forward to now, it has barely been 2.5 months, and I would say that I have seen great progress and am completely addicted to working with him! I also feel like a total badass when I work out at the gym by myself and can lift, squat, and deadlift with the guys! All in all, I would recommend Josh with no hesitation. Thanks Josh, you’re the real MVP!
